One of my fondest memories of Velma is when I was getting married, she pulled me aside one day, looked me in the eyes to make sure I was listening, and told me that the most important thing in a marriage is communication. I took that to heart and just celebrated my 20th anniversary. She was such a hoot to work with and I feel lucky and honored to have known her. My thoughts are with you Sheila, Christina and family.
Love, Sheri

I'm Jackie. Velma is my first cousin, daughter of my favorite uncle on my father's side. Our folks have all crossed over and so now has she, but the memories...oh the memories will live on. The family reunions were the best. Our relatives came from the four corners, young and old, anxious to talk, eat, rejoice, and share family photos. There was a lot of hugging and we loved one another in the moment till we met again.
As I recall, the 70s were wild and free. One of Velma's favorite tales to tell was of the summers at "Hack Crabtree's Place," a bar near the nuclear plant in Spring City. With a live band on the weekends and bring your own bottle...well it just made good sense to show up there on a Friday and Saturday night eager to drink a few and cut a rug to live music. The "Bump" was the rage. Velma was a looker and three times a lady - always a good friend with a great sense of humor. She will be missed by all.
I loved her and she loved me and I am honored to have known her. We shared secrets she took to her grave as will I when my time comes. What was not a secret was how much she loved her children. We called her Velmer a lot of the time just for fun you know. So Velmer...you rest in peace now and save me a seat Doll, just like old times. Blessed be, Cuz.
